The results obtained from clinical trials suggest that fruit of privet may hinder renal cell carcinoma development, which is perhaps due to the increase in the activity of macrophages and cytotoxic T lymphocytes. Extract of privet restrains mutagenicity in bacteria, decreases tumor-induced macrophage suppression and improves T-cell function in cancer tissue.
