Oral preparations of Verbena officinalis (Verbena), like verbena powder, are used for the treatment of sore throats plus other pharyngeal and oral inflammation, respiratory tract diseases for example whooping cough and asthma and angina. Other oral uses of verbena powder include for melancholia, depression, generalized seizure, hysteria, fever, gallbladder pain and convalescence after fevers, as pain killer, exhaustion, spasms, nervous conditions, angina, liver and gallbladder diseases, digestive disorders, kidney and lower urinary tract disorders and jaundice. Some other uses include irregular menstruation, menopausal complaints, arthritic conditions, increasing lactation, for metabolic disorders, gout, edema associated with weak heart and to cure anemia.
Topically - Verbena powder is used topically for abscesses and burns, poorly healing wounds, for oral/pharyngeal cavity diseases and as a gargle for cold symptoms, rheumatism, arthritis, contusions, dislocations, minor burns and itching.
