Comments

Cramp is a Native American plant mostly used for decorative purposes. Historically, the Indians of North America have used it for reducing the swelling of glands, for increasing kidney output (as a diuretic), for the cure of eye disorders and in infective conditions like mumps. They also used to smoke cramp bark as a substitute to tobacco. Don’t confuse it with black haw (Vibernum prunifolium), which is sometimes also mistaken as cramp bark.
