What Should Be the Dose/Administration of Slippery Elm ?

ORAL Generally people use powdered form of inner bark (with ratio 1:8 as a decoction) in a dosage of 4 to 16 mL thrice every day. As a nutritional supplement, four grams powdered inner bark is mixed with 500 mL boiling water. Such mixture should be orally taken thrice every day. Alcohol containing extract of slippery elm is also used (with ratio of 1:1 in 60% concentrated) in a dose of 5 mL thrice daily. TOPICAL As a poultice, many individuals generally use the coarse powdered inner bark mixed with boiling water.

Comments

Don’t mix the inner bark and whole bark. Commercial lozenges with slippery elm are preferred to the native herb when utilized for sore throat and cough because they give balanced release of mucilage to the throat.
