What Should Be the Dose/Administration of Elecampane?
ORAL
• Common dosage of elecampane is 1.5 to 4 grams of rhizome or root used thrice every day.
• It is used as tea that is made by boiling 1.5 to 4 grams rhizome or root into 150 mL water for continuously 5-10 minutes. This tea should not be used more than thrice every day.
• As a liquid extract (with ratio of 1:1 in 25% concentrated alcohol) 1.5 to 4 mL of the extract should be used thrice every day.
• Dose of alantolactone as an anti-helminthic for adults should be 300 mg used on daily basis as 2 courses used for 5 days, with an interval of 10 days between these two courses.
• Dose of alantolactone for children should be 50-200 mg daily.
